| In completion to the retrospective taking place at the haus konstruktiv, Zurich, the Jamileh Weber gallery is delighted, to present an exhibition with new paintings by Karl Gerstner under the title Paintings en Relief.
Karl Gerstner (born 1930) is artist, author and graphic designer. Since the fifties he is one of the comprehensiv representative of the constructive art, competent publicist in the field of art and design and exceptional head of graphic design, a.o. famous for his activities as founding member of the renowned advertising agency GGK. haus konstruktiv, Zurich shows through February 22, 2004 an extensive retrospective of the artist. The main emphasis of this show with more than 60 exhibits lies on the artistic work from the 14 chapters as the artist calls his various bodies of art. A selection of the graphic design introduces Karl Gerstner's innovative reflections on visual communication. Extracts of his journalistic work finally, reveal the third discipline of this distinctive theoretician and practician. The exhibition in the spacious rooms of the Jamileh Weber gallery has been conceived as an extension by the artist and shows besides the chapter color sounds, color lines, color fractals and synchromies for the very first time models and sketches of selected realized and not realized objects. Basis of Gerstners constructive art and creation are science, methodology and innovative translation. The result of this Unité de doctrine is a visualization of the highest optical appeal.
