| In a career that has spanned more than fifty years, Robert Rauschenberg has redefined the art of our time. His innovations have been made in a spectacular range of mediums - painting and sculpture, silkscreen and lithography, photography and transfer drawing - and have incorporated such unconventional materials as newspaper, cardboard and found objects.
Robert Rauschenberg has always been a traveler and storyteller. In this latest series, he continues his journey around the world and let us share in what he experienced, displayed in a compilation of short stories, "with no mistakes nor right nor wrong" as he discovers in his catalogue introduction. In the tradition of his earlier work of the "Anagram" cycle (1996-present) he invites the viewer to invent his own story: "No tracks. No traces. Your story or dream... these are your personal treasures to share or keep secret... Think of them as seed... The stories can change as time does." Besides the "Short Stories" paintings the exhibition features Robert Rauschenberg's latest prints from the "Rumination" series. The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated artist book with an introduction by Robert Rauschenberg and a signed screenprint. The show will remain on view through Saturday, July 28, 2001 at the Jamileh Weber Gallery, Waldmannstrasse 6, CH-8001 Zurich. Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 11am to 6pm, Saturday 10am to 4pm and by appointment.
